Focus on – JBL Control HST

18 October

In the world of technology we are spoiled by the rapid advances that we have made. Always wanting more, faster cars, more clever robots or the ability to fly. New releases are now so often that we have become blase to what really is amazing technology. In the midst of all the indifference, sometimes a product is released that reignites that excitement. For me, that product is currently the JBL Control HST. From the moment I saw the technology behind it, I was hooked, my colleagues will back that statement up, I mention it at every opportunity.

Firstly I should mention that the Control HST is part of the successful control contractor series of loudspeakers. A range that was first released by JBL way back in 1997 and is still as popular today. Secondly, and perhaps the most important is that the Hemispherical Soundfield Technology™ (HST) is patent pending, so you can add ‘exclusive’ to ‘cool’ and ‘new’ descriptions of this speaker.

So let me breakdown what the Hemispherical Soundfield Technology™ means to you. This is an entirely new concept from JBL for wall mount speakers, utilsing the technology to give extremely wide coverage, up to 180 degrees wide in the listening space. All the while eliminating the primary wall reflection that tends to cause inconsistent sound when speakers are mounted on the wall. Surface mount speakers have always suffered from the effects of the low and mid frequencies wrapping around the back of the speaker and reflecting off the wall. This makes it great for applications such as retails stores, hotel lobbies, restaurants, leisure venues and background/foreground music and paging. Now you can see why I like it so much.

If you want to see this loudspeaker in action, please feel free to come to the new GSL Professional showroom and one of our team will be more than happy to demo it for you.

Now excuse me, I’m off to see why my robot dogcat hasn’t hoovered my office.
